Toboggan hire

Tobogganing is a cheap & fun option for all the family – and no lift pass required! Rug up, grab a toboggan, hire some waterproof clothes & snow boots if you need them from your closest Hoys shop or at Hoys @ Hotham Hub Snowplay Park at Wire Plain Mt Hotham. If you are heading to Dinner Plain – grab your gear from Hoys DP Shop. Please note: Both Peashooter Toboggan Slope Dinner Plain & Hotham Hub Snowplay Park require booking of a timeslot at peak times and there is a charge to ride the slope. ($10 per person/ under 3 yo free at Dinner Plain & $10 per adult/ $5 per child (TBC) at Wire Plain. Grab your crew & enjoy the thrill of the ride.

At Dinner Plain, we have the Peashooter slope next door to the Cobungra Platter Ski slope. Open 9.30am – 4.30pm daily. Access is free – parking, toilets & a café are available at the Scrubbers End car park. Check if the slope is open with enough snow cover on the Dinner Plain Snow Report

NEW in 2025 – Hotham Hub Snowplay Park at Wire Plain. The snow play & tobogganing slope in the Mt Hotham Alpine Resort is located at bus stop 12 Wire Plain. You will need to have paid resort entry on your vehicle. The new Hotham Hub building has a Cafe, new day shelter & toilet facilities & Hoys new shop. Hoys @ Hotham Hub offers snow rental clothing, waterproof boots & toboggans. Also quality snow accessories for sale – hats, gloves, goggles, neck gators, socks & thermals. Carparking is adjacent

Please follow the safety rules when playing in the designated tobogganing areas:

  • Only toboggan in designated areas.
  • Only toboggan during daylight hours with good visibility
  • Only approved plastic moulded toboggans are allowed. DO NOT use any other non-purpose built object.
  • Kneel or sit face-forward on your toboggan. DO NOT sit backwards, stand, or go down hill face-first.
  • Children under 5 should toboggan with an adult. Children under 12 should be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Only one person on a toboggan at any time (except for adults with young children).
  • Dress appropriately – hats, gloves or mittens, snow pants, winter jacket, snow boots. Bring a change of dry clothing.
  • Avoid wearing scarves or clothing that may get caught.
  • A helmet designed for winter sports is recommended, a biking or skate boarding helmet could be used as a substitute.
  • Walk up the side of the slope and leave the middle open for other users.
